Info about a CP260U

Post by ledzep11 »

I recently acquired in a box of misc radios a CP260U. Apparently it is a UHF unit with a bandsplit of 420-470, according to the model tag. It has a decal on the front labeled "pro series" and it looks a lot like an EX500. However it does not have a multi pin connector on the side, instead it has a 3/32" mic and 1/8" speaker jacks. A search of this board reveals no info at all about this radio. Does anyone have at least a clue as to which CPS to use for programming this unit, and possibly what kind of prog cable? Any help is appreciated.

You may need entry level programming software, such as HVN6053C as used by the CT450 series radios.
Although, you may need RVN4191K as used by the CP200, which covers the CP150, CP200, PR400, CM200/300 and PM400

What is the model number on the actual tag?

It is probably NOT a North Americas radio....

The actual model number on the tag is CP260U. I don't know if it is an export radio or not, but it has a FCC id number on it.

If it has an FCC ID, please post the entire ID and the entire model number. CP260U is not a model number.

Looking for something like AAH01xyx9fg3bn or something similar. Motorola model numbers are generally 1 to 3 letters, two numbers, three letters and then some other stuff on the end.

The FCC ID would allow us to actually search the database. I can tell you though, that having been in the business for a few decades, the model you describe doesn't sound like a North American product.

Here is a pic of the model tag on the back of the radio. As you can see it does not conform to the normal motorola model number "rules". Image

The FCC ID comes back to Shenzen Electronics Company. It's got a 11K0F3E emissin designation so it is 12.5 Hz. You'll probably have to do a search to find a U.S. distributor.
