Encryption boards in XTS3000's - firmware issues perhaps ??

Post by mrtor »

Good Morning from cold old Melbourne, Australia

A few months back I purchased 6 encryption 0105956V67 boards from a user here on Batlabs for installation in my XTS3000's

The local M shop have just rung me to advise that 3 of the boards have firmware v3.53 and 1 has v3.51 and 2 had v3.55

The v3.55's are working fine, the lower firmwares won't talk to the KVL3000 (DES XL/DES OFB algos)

The XTS3k's all have the same firmware and host and flash. I have been assured by the user here that he had used them all as per this quote "I've keyloaded all of those boards with a T3011DX KVL, so I know that works."

I have asked the person I purchased these from and he has limited knowledge (but more than me :-)) and told me to post to the whole forum.

Any clues on getting firmware upgrades or other workarounds as the M shop has put it back to me. :x

Thanks in advance
Mike

I had a similar problem with an XTS3000 Model 3 with old host and dsp - see below:
The UCM = R03.56 was added later and would not communicate with the KVL.
HOST R05.60.00
DSPN 06.05.02

After refreshing the XTS3000 host & dsp to the latest below the ucm would now communicate with the KVL

Host R07.71.00
DSP N08.03.03

The problem was the old XTS3000 host and dsp, not the UCM.

I am not saying that this is your problem but it could be the radios firmware and not the ucm.

It sounds like your KVL is ASN (uses PID mode in the radio) trying to load in CKR mode or ASTRO25 (uses CKR mode in the radio) trying to load in PID mode.

that is the exact host and dsp in the radio host R05.60.00 dsp 06.05.02 and that works fine with the v3.55 and the KVL the other 4 don't want to play nicely though.

My M shop say they can't upgrade the host/dsp for me :-( so that is out.

Just to update everyone that provided potential answers and everyone that responded:-

All 6 radios have been upgraded to Host 7.71.xx and now work fine.

Thanks for MattSR for his assistance in fixing this fault and to everyone who contributed messages.

Cheers
