On my APX7500 05 Control head doesn't work

Hello, I have an APX 7500 800/VHF radio that came originally with an 09 head, I love it but it is too big for my car installation, I do have an extra 05 head (HLN1471E) that I used with my XTL5000, I am wondering if I can use it on the APX7500? I heard that it can be used and it will upgrade the firmware on it when it connects to the APX, I want to chek if that is doable before I go ahead and connect it to the radio, any input will be greatly appreciated!

If that is the part # for the newer darker colored head that states "O5" on it rather than XTL5000 then that is correct. I just took an O3 head from an XTL and put it on an APX and the APX auto downloaded new firmware to it. Pretty cool.
I have head, wanna trade, lol.

Will the silver 05 control head from an XTL work on the APX in the same fashion or do you need the new black 05 head only?

I am under the impression it must be the newer style black control head. Hopefully you don't run across an old one that has been recased.
I would love to hear from someone that has tried the silver ones (both the old and new type).

I believe the late model revision O5 heads will work on the APX. Just not the early model one. See batdude's thread about CHIA and CHIB's for more info
