What is the difference (if any) between APCO 25 and Project 25 radios and compatibility issues?

They're the same thing. The "correct" way to say it is, "APCO Project 25".

Motorola calls it 'ASTRO25' though.

That must be their internal trademark. The "Astro" trademark was initially used for VSELP encoded digital radio products. They must have decided to move to "Astro25" to keep the original name recognition and at the same time associate themselves with APCO's Project 25. Thats "m-marketing" for you.
