I am trying to figure out how many talkgroups I can put into an XTS2500 model 2 radio. We are working on a re-template of our county radios, and I am not sure what my limit is. They have 255 channels setup in them right now.

I have a couple of versions out there:
H46UCF9PW6AN, Host R07.00, DSP R07.00 Memory 4meg
H46UCF9PW6AN, Host R09.00.41, DSP R16.00.01, Memory 4meg

I have heard a firmware flash can make a difference, so I am not really sure how to know.

We have to send what we want in a template to our state radio programming unit, who will then send back an updated codeplug.

You have AN models which are 4 megs so you are limited in your channels/talkgroups and cannot go up to 850 or 1000 like you can with BN models which have 8 meg controllers

The one that I have with FW R09.00.41, which is the limit for 4 meg controllers, and using R20.01.00 CPS shows 870 Modes in Radio Wide.
