Hi gang:

Just got a new XTS2500i and when I read the radio it says I have something like 800 channels available yet I was under the impression I only had 256 channels (16 Zones and 16 Modes) at my disposal. Now before you tell me that the rest of the channels are trunking channels, this radio has FPP which I was led to believe could NOT do trunking and still be an FPP radio.

Thanks in advance.

Jim

Depending on the FW and CPS version used, yes it can have 800 modes for a model II and III (Model I and 1.5 are limited to 96 modes I believe).
There are some issues between P25 trunking and FPP that are well documented.

ok......maybe I don't understand but how can there be 870 modes (channels) when there's only 16 positions on the frequency knob and only 16 zones available in the software? I've tried to increase the number of zones but it wont let me...

You can have more than 16 channels in a zone. Put channel up or channel down in the menu items.
