Astro Spectra P25 OOB

Post by WN3VXP »

Hello! I have 2 Astro Spectra UHF R3 radios. One of them, SN 412ABJ1981, built May 2001, R11.03.00 N07.03.12 will transmit P25 in the 440MHz Ham band. The other, SN 412AZE0438, built March 1999, R09.52.03 N06.04.12 will transmit P25 only above 450 MHz. Analog is fine from 440-482 MHz. I have the current CPS that I hex edited for 440 MHz but no other tools. Does anyone know of a mod to the Astromobile file to unlock P25 below 440? There is a frequency table in the CPS after the bandsplit tables. I was able to get the second radio to do P25 while communicating with the Astro tuner soft pot 458 MHz control, but unable to program P25 capability on 440 MHz. Any suggestions would be appreciated greatly. 73, Rick

What do you mean won't transmit? Do you get a fail 001 when you select the channel? Or do you not, but can't hear your transmit on the other radio? When was the last time the offending radio was tuned? Have you looked at a spectrum analyzer while transmitting on the radio to confirm/deny the presence of a spur?

I would get the firmware updated and then go from there if any issues are still present.

Thank-you jmr061 and escomm for the advice. I am exchanging the radio for one with updated firmware and DSP. 73, Rick
