Questions and a Flashcode discrepancy...

Guys,

I'm looking at a XTL5000 on eBay, but first I have a few questions...

1) Can I take an A7/A9 head from a Spectra and program it up instead of an O5? I am in need of the DTMF pad on the radio and I've found mixed reports about taking an A7/A9 head and doing this.

2) This is a dual head setup, so can I have the above listed A7/A9 head and an O5 head on the same radio?

3) A friend of mine who has access to the depot tool put in the flashcode in a new codeplug to test it out and the CPS kicked the codeplug back. The flashcode is 500008-000480-5* and the last digit -5 isn't taking, wants to convert it to -0. Does anyone have the depot tool who can verify that this is indeed a valid codeplug? Using akardam's flashcode decoder both -0 and -5 show the same decode as shown below.

*Q806/G806 IMBE / APCO-25 Digital Operation
H14/G114 Digital ID Display
H38/G51 Smartzone Operation
Q173/G173 Smartzone OmniLink Operation
Q361/G361 Digital APCO-25 IMBE Trunking (9600kb Control)

Regards,

-Frank C.

That's probably because the checksum digit is zero

Try akardam's checksum calculator: http://www.akardam.net/moto/tools/flash ... o=checksum

That's what I used to figure out that -5 and -0 is the same.

You said you used the "flashcode decoder"....not the checksum calculator. Different tool.

Hmm, makes me wonder if the poster didn't type it in right or something...

Which "poster" didn't type what in right?

The flashcode DECODER does just that, it doesn't care what checksum digit you enter.

Whereas as the checksum CALCULATOR... well, it's pretty self-explanatory really, and actually unnecessary because as you've discovered, that other program (which shall remain unnamed) calculates it for you.

Astro Spectra heads will work, not regular Spectra heads, you will also need a TIB with dual DB25's on it.
