Difference between RMN5050A, & RMN5070A

I have a few XPR4550 Trbo radios, & they both have the RMN5050A base mike which is what is called for. I'm looking to buy a XTL5000, & for that radio, the RMN5070A is what is called for, although both mikes seem identical except for the silver "M" on the 5070 mike. Are these mikes the same internally, or do I need to find a 5070 mike. GARY

Gary -- I have both platforms (Astro25 and MotoTRBO) and have been wondering the same. Did you ever figure out what if any differences there are between these two desk mics? I'm also curious about how the mobile DTMF mics for these respective radio models differ. I've been using an APX/XTL DTMF mic with my XPR-series radios without any noticeable problems.

No. I have been using both base mikes on both radios, & it doesn't seem to make a difference. Also people tell me my TX audio on my XTL5000 in the car sounds better with a XPR mike, the RMN5053A vs the proper HMN1090 XTL mike. GARY

Okay -- thanks Gary. I have another friend who just purchased a basic (non-DTMF) XPR mic to use with his mobile rig (an XPR4550). I too noticed his TX audio sounds better than with his APX/DTMF mic. Specifically, his XPR mic seems to have improved highs and mids but lacks lows (not in a bad way). I'm just using the built-in front-firing speaker on my end but am planning to add an external speaker to see which sounds better but I'm guessing the wild audio level swings in DMR will be pretty unpleasant with a larger speaker.

I use the typical Motorola external speaker on mine. With the gen 2 radios, & the auto leveling entitlement, it evens everything out. And when you connect an external speaker, the internal speaker still works. But I don't hear it because the external speaker is so much louder. GARY

The 5053 while being bigger, has 2 programmable side buttons near the PTT. The 5052 does not. TX audio wise, they both sound the same to me. GARY
