Received word a little while ago from Motorola that the APX7000 is cancelled and all future orders will be fulfilled with an APX8000.
In the near-term the pricing on the 8000 is being reduced to the 7000 pricing.
Nothing official in writing as of yet.

It just makes sense to do this. From a manufacturing perspective, I can see them cancelling the 6000 too and going with just the 8000 and letting customers option it as desired.

That is interesting. Thanks for the post. I am still hoping that MOTO TRBO would be an option, too, but think we have discussed that until we are blue in the face and nothing is likely to change.

Great! I skipped the APX 7000 (great radio) because its a dual band. Been also holding off on buying an APX 8000 just in case prices go down, hopefully it doesn't take to long!

Good thing is prices on used APX7Ks will drop when the market becomes flooded with those dumped by agencies that get absolutely terrified of the words "cancellation" and start reaching for their (taxpayer's) wallet.

I'm looking forward to it!

This is no surprise. I will miss the larger display though from the longer case.
The 6K mono bander will live on, as the 8K becomes the premier portable.
The 4K MFK "single knob" dies soon also, replaced with the "two knob".
It was a joke from the start.

I am looking forward to this then... it means a few things to me.
1) APX7000 prices will tumble as others have said
2) XTS series will drop even more - letting me buy more of them as "throw-arounds"
3)APX8000 will hopefully get a small price drop to put it in line with the 7000s and the Harris offering that might stir things up.
