Hi, I wanted to see if I can modify an HSN4000A External Speaker to work with my Uniden Bearcat BCD536HP? here are the specs for the BCD536HP Audio Output

Earphone Warning
You can use an optional 32Ω stereo headset or earphone with your scanner. Use of an incorrect
earphone or headset might be potentially hazardous to your hearing. The output of the phone jack

earphone or headset. Otherwise, you might experience some discomfort or possible hearing
damage if the volume suddenly becomes too loud because of the volume control or squelch

Just get the matching plug, [1/8-inch (3.5-mm) mini-plug] & attach it to the speaker wire. Plug it in, & you're ready to go. That's all. GARY

Thanks but it looks like the HSN4000A has 2 wire's and can you confirm that the HSN4000A none amplified doe not need any 12v?

No, the Motorola speaker does not external power, and there is no polarity on the Motorola speaker. I don't see why you can't just wire it up like Gary said. I just put an RSN4001 speaker on a Uniden scanner for a tow truck customer of mine and it works great.

Do you have schematic for the HSN4000A? and do you know if is non amplified? looking the specs on the 536HP Audio Output Power : 5W Max., 8 ohm Load

Oh goodness. Google must be broken in your part of the internet. The HSN4000 is just an 8 ohm speaker. Go to Radio Shack. Buy the correct plug. Solder it on. Plug it in. Enjoy
