Greetings all. I am looking pretty hard at the Tomar Police Light II for use in my personal vehicle for fire/ems response. I have never had a strobe light before, only a Dashlaser and a Firebeam (halogens). How does this light stack up against the other strobe manufacturers and halogen lights? As I said, I have never had a strobe before, so when people say "oh it's way brighter than the Dashmiser" I'm still lost cause I have never seen a Dashmiser in use. I have heard alot of good things about the Tomar and this "neobe" technology. Does anybody have one or has anybody seen one in use? The light would be my only one, so look at it from a primary warning stand point. Opinions and suggestions are welcomed! Thanks!!!!

Hi, I'm not sure about the Tomar II, but I have seen the original Tomar. And it is sweeeeeeet. Very bright, and with a very fast flash pattern. The only downfall compared to some of the other available strobes is that it only had the one flash pattern, whereas with other strobes you can change to double-flash, quad-flash etc etc.

I have Federal, Code3, TOMAR and Able2 on my display and TOMAR wins hands down- yes, even compared to some peoples' precious Whelen lights. It's the brightest AND has the most powerful power supply (27 watts vs. the next highest, which is Whelen at 22 watts). They do only have one flash pattern, but why do you need more than one, anyway? They are the Neobe style flash (6 gang flash) and appear to be a steady "neon" looking light at distance. The one drawback that some people don't like is the clicking sound they make, but with a power supply this size, you're gonna have that. Do yourself a favor and get the optional glare shield, too.

I like the clicking sound And yes, get the flashback gaurd. I once tried taking mine off (not a tomar, but another bright strobe) so it wouldn't block so much visibility - and when I had to use the light at night..... let's just say the road wasn't so easily visible

I have not heard anything bad about it. Never used or seen it but from what others have said, it is a very bright littel light.

Neobes are just cool! A couple FD's have gone to them on their rigs and its an impressive light show. Starting to see the tomar lightbars on squads as well and they beat anything else I've seen or used for vehicle lighting.

I would recommend the Tomar Police Light 2. I have a couple of friends who have purchased them, and have found them to be very durable, convenient to use, bright, and best of all, reasonably priced. For this price, you are obviously getting a single tube. This light usually sells for around $140.00 and the dual-lamp for around $175 !!

It's a very effective light...buy it.

He';s also selling hide-a-way tomar kits as well. I think I may be doing so xmas shopping for myself now.

From what I have heard the police light is very good. From what i have heard i havent experienced it yet it will trip the opticoms with out a problem. Just a hint!!

Well I got my Police Light II today. It's freekin AWESOME! I got the dual strobe version. It is bright as all get out. And you were right, it's kinda loud but I think that just adds to the coolness of it. If anybody is looking for a great dash strobe light, may I recommend this sweetie. I got it off ebay from Strobes4Less - paid $108.00 plus shipping. It really turned out to be a great deal. Thanks for the input.

Got my Tomar in as well, HIGHLY impressed by this light. Very fast pattern, VERY BRIGHT and there is no dark time.

Hi All-

I am going to be putting strobest in my lumina. I want a front dash light, and 2 rear deck lights, along with corner strobes all around. Tomar is the way to go?

Now do they make a light exactly like the police light II that can be controlled remotely from a main power supply (not self contained)? I want to have the flash patterns on the rear deck and corner strobes from the same power supply so it will look good. Or doesn't this matter with the Neobe deal?

I don't think the police light II is available as a standalone lighthead but it might be, check with Tomar. They'll sync up if you turn them on at the same time. I'm running on the hide-ways on 2 power supplies so I wasn't worried about the dek lights matching.

The key to being seen is several different patterns going. If they're all the same you kinda mezmorize people.

Good point on being noticed.. Right now I have 3 Whelen SlimLighter LED lights in my crown vic... but they are almost too wide for the rear deck of the new Lumina, and they get washed out in the sun too.....

It's not available as stand alone. The UC37SS C1/C2 is very similar, except for not being suction cup mount. This is a 3x7" remote head with dual tubes and split lens in any color. C1 and C2 are the colors.

Does anybody know how much these are? If they are just as expensive as the Police Light II then I might as well just use the PLII, I bet there is better resale value in the self-contained dash lights.

I sell them for around $125 per assembly.
They are hermetically sealed, feature weatherpak connectors and have adjustaqble mounting ears.

Remember what a self contained light is gentlemen! It is a remote strobe tube with reflector, with a 3 pin AMP connector plugged into a power supply. If you really want to sync up tubes - open the unit, unplug the strobe from the power supply inside the unit, and connect it to your own power supply Bam - Synced up strobes. This isnt yoru best option if buying new since remote heads are cheaper then the self contained versions (paying extra for the power supply), but if you have the units already, you can transform them into remote heads easily. Just an idea...

Sorry to bring this topic back from the dead, but I am about to get a Police Light II dual strobe, and I was wondering if anyone had any pictures of the shield unit. I want to make sure the shield will work the way I want it to! This looks like an awesome light!!

The shield will work on just about anyhting. Just cut it to angle with a bandsaw and sand the edges. It will fit the glass perfectly.
