Syntor x9000, LB - No O/P on 10m?

Hi all;

I have a Syntor x9000 on LB, that has no output on 10m (29.5-29.68). And there is no current draw. It works fine in the 40-53MHz range.
I thought I read somewhere about going to the lowest used frequency and checking a PLL voltage and if needed readjusting the PLL. I know I saw something about PCB traces used as capacitors, for moving the PLL locking range, on the VHF high band radios.
Any one have any suggestions. I plan to reprogram some 30 and 31 MHz frequency and rechecking the OP.

Follow the alignment procedure in the manual. Almost every X9000 that I have owned would to 10 and 6 meters, with a few exceptions, but they would ALL do the full band plus one end or the other,.

You are right, the VCO is almost certainly in an "unlock" condition on 10 Meters. This end seems to do this rather than the other one. If you were able to look at all the manuals ever published on this radio you would note that the cover goes from calling the radio a 30-50 MHz model in the first ones to a 32-50 MHz model in the last ones. I always wondered about that.

I had one out of a dozen radios that didn't like to lock on 10 Meters when it was cold and first turned on. I was using it as a temporary base station under the bench on a cold concrete floor. Moving it up off the floor ended the issue. Thus I never got around to checking alignment issues. Most X9000's will run on 10 and 6 just fine when you get them. But I seem to have bad luck as a gambler, and if there is a clinker in the pile, I will always get it.

Hi Charles!

I didn't find an alignment procedure for the PLL/Synth.

Update...
I programmed 29, 29.5, 30, 31, 32, 33 and 34 MHz. It only transmitted on 32-34 MHz. I used v5.02. I made a fresh code plug from scratch.

You haven't answered the question of did you align the radio so the VCO would work at the lower frequency?

I have a number of these radios I use all the time. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to get these radio working on the low end. If you don't have the manual, go to the repeater builders page and download them. Here is a link to their page with the manuals so you don't have to go out of your way.

Here is another source of some good information from Mike B. http://www.onfreq.com/syntorx/

So now that you have been spoon fed the information on the Syntor X9000 radios, let us know how you make out. These radios are probably the best Motorola ever designed. Even a 2 year old can make them play well. The only weak spot in these radios is the DC power connection inside them. there is only one screw to keep the connections made and tight. You might have to back out the connection and clean both sides with a pencil eraser to get a good clean connection. This will effect the transmit output power if the connection is poor.

Let the group on here know how you make out getting your radio to play well.

I have the manual. I dont see any VCO adjustment. There are very little tx alignment for the x9k. Worp, Dev, Comp, and several RF power setting related to OP and protection. Thats it.

I normally start with the manual, then Google, then asking questions on forums...

The new radio I bought works down to 29.5 MHz at least...
