Good afternoon, I am a radio technician working on repairing an APX6000 radio. The problem appears to be a faulty volume switch. The problem I have is I can not find a part number to replace the switch. The only part number I can find is for the entire top module including displays and multiple switches. If I could find a good part number for just the switch It would be a much cheaper repair. any input will be greatly appreciated.

Checks FSBs. Wasn't there a notice and factory-covered repair pertaining to this a few years back? It's been a while, so my brain details are fuzzy.

Have you had any luck with getting a part number for just the volume on/off control? I am only finding the $800 kit (NHN7015) as well so I just sent the radio to depot for a $400 flat rate repair. Seems like replacing a volume control should be a little cheaper than this.

this is why I bought a bunch of the new APX6k (top works on the 7K as well ) frames with the top on our favorite auction site while they were cheap.

Still some out there but the price has tripled ....still cheaper than the depot for just a volume.

A lot of the early APX's are coming off the extended five year warranty so unless they renewed a support contract ( a lot of small agencies do not do this ) they may get hit 450 on those per radio per fix.

The volume control/on-off switch is not available as an individual part from Motorola.
You are correct that the only way to repair this is to replace the top panel assembly. Last one I ordered was around 385.00. Still cheaper than flat rate.

I went looking for the manufacturer of the part and found a supplier who said they made the part exclusively for Motorola. No way to buy from them.

After that the only option was to buy the whole thing.

Steve220 do you have a part number for the top panel assembly you ordered for $385? I only have a part number of NHN7015 and it comes with an $818 cost. If I can get something for $385 that would be better.

I don't think you can order the 1375044C09 anymore or it is a restricted part. (at least this was true the last time I tried)
1375044C10 is the number I have ordered. Same pricing.

I also found the manufacturer and got the same response.

There is a Chinese seller on eBay right now selling used volume controls, some with pieces of the flex still attached.

If you are replacing APX4000 housings for bad PTT contacts or broken displays, you can rob the (usually) still good volume controls from those.
