APX6000XE Speaker Output

Not overly happy with the audio on the "stock" 1 watt speaker in my APX6000XE portables.... Liking the looks of the 3 watt speakers found in APX8000 Portables... has anyone tried replacing just the speaker? I know the 3 watt speaker is an upgraded option on a 6000, just not sure if it comes with more than just the speaker, perhaps a software option or amplifier change?

Yep, I tried this... the speaker is the actually the same. The big difference is the PA in the APX8000 or APX6000 BN (same for SRX2200 BN). If you have an "AN" model, it has the 0.5W speaker (weak audio!... my recommendation, attach an XE RSM...it has a full 1 watt speaker). If you have a "BN" model, it has the 3W speaker and adaptive audio engine. All APX6000 BN SRX2000 BN, and APX8000's have the better audio.

I suppose the APX6000 BN and APX8000 use the same speaker?

Wondering if the KT000010A01 speaker for the 8000 is the correct replacement for my 6000 BN speaker? I believe the one in mine has been cranked up too loud and is damaged.

Yes, 3W speaker...same for 6000BN and 8000 (and SRX2200 BN).
