APX8000 Ticking Sound On Receive

So, my brand-new APX8000 makes this really fast (and faint, albeit noticeable) 'ticking' sound, just like when it is actively on Scan mode, 'looking back' to the primary channel to monitor for any active signal activity there on my Priority Channel 1. However, strangely, it also emits this fast but faint 'ticking sound' even when it's channel selector knob is set to another channel (e.g., not Priority Channel 1), and it is NOT on Scan.

My guess is it seems like it might be very briefly (yet regularly) quickly 'swooping back' to Priority Channel 1, even though it is NOT on Scan? Is my guess correct? If not, what could be causing this 'ticking' sound?! I don't believe there is anything wrong with my APX8000, as I recently bought it brand-spanking-new from Motorola, and it is less than 6 months old, has never been dropped, or in any way even slightly abused, etc.

BTW, when the radio is NOT on Scan, I tested it, and (as expected) it does NOT revert to Channel 1, even when there is activity on Channel 1, such as it properly does when it is on Scan.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Br,
Larry

FWIW, I forgot to mention my APX8000 is a quad band radio, and the ticking sound is only heard on UHF channels, but is not heard on VHF channels.
