So what exactly is the Q445: Fireground Accountability Software used for in a XTS5000 radio?

The short explanation is it keeps track of radios that are on a fire scene. When you turn the radio, it sends out a registration and another radio connected to a computer receives the registration and that radio will show up as on site. The person operating at the computer can send canned messages or alerts based on which truck the radio is assigned to, evacuation tones and so on.
