hi,

is the SABER II or III or SYSTEM SABER CAPABLE OF SELECTIVE CALL ENCODE and decode? also is it capable to have selective call as an option while not having MDC being transmitted on every transmission? would plan to use selective call on a ham repeater once and a while, but know having mdc on tx all the time would annoy lots of the non motorola hams.

any help would be great.

A Systems Saber will do Call Alert (causes the radio to broadcast an MDC instruction that causes the other radio to beep and flash until reset) but not Sel Call (causes the radio to broadcast an MDC instruction that causes the other radio to open audio and hear voice, but does not send PL so others on the channel do not hear).

Call Alert does not require sending MDC on all PTTs. Rather, you go to the Call menu, scroll to the ID of the unit you want to alert, and press PTT. The radio will key and send the MDC word up to five times, unless sooner acknowledged by the called radio.

Hi

As Far as I know the saber 1 to 3 do not support Selective Calling

the Mx 1000 2000 3000 ( Eurapean saber ) series radios do have Selective call and you should be able to disable MDC from every TX

Hope this helps

Hey,

If your Saber II or III has an 8D core, than yes it does support Sel Call, it's part of the Statalert options.

When you read the codeplug with the RSS, the Core version will show up in the RSS.
