Post by Zanman »

I believe Motorola now offers an upgrade to get MDC on the LS radios in conventional mode.
I'm sure I saw that on the website news.

The radios that are out there now for sale from a dealer are the + versions.

If you do some searching you'll find the information here on the board about the different model types, and what kind of upgrade/features they will have.

They will all have LS trunking, with a variety of conventional features, and should all include MDC if memory serves. As always, make sure you research throughly before purchasing.

If your NOT putting the radio on LTR - then DON'T buy a radio that has an LS in the model. It will almost always (except the HT1550XLS) have limited if not no support for conventional modes.

HT1250LS+ new features include:
-32 conventional modes
-MDC on conventional Mode
-Additional MDC features in LTR mode
-QCII features in conventional mode.

You can have these features upgraded in your existing radio. If your radio is not a Plus model, you may have to take that upgrade as well.

Is the upgraded support for conventional modes also in the CDM 1550 LS?

The upgrade has to be done at the Motorola depot. I have no idea what the cost to do the upgrade would be...there was a special deal at one point last year, I think either $99 or $129 would get the upgrade done.
