I have passed signals thru repeaters that are CSQ, but I do not know what the actual performance would be on the receiving end. (I have my coded switch on accidently on a HAM repeater, it went fine).
Short of having the proper equipment, I think the repeater would have to be CSQ, as the MSF5000's etc will drop the PL after the proper code is detected.

A repeater with CSQ will work when passing digital signals. As long as you are in proper range...once you get into a scratchy area it gets all screwed up

Astro cai works in the same manor as digital encription, they can't simpley be passed through an analog repeater set for carier squelch. There respective signals need to be re-clocked at the same frequency(data rate) as recieved at the input. Option cards installed in a msf5000 alow it to recognize and reclock encripted data (12kb), but not astro. Astro clear or encripted, imbe or vselp require a quantar/quantro with the appropriate options and flashcode.

Transparent repeaters (no CTCSS)work fine.

I will second that....From my own experience...transparent repeaters will pass digital signals....and also DES or DVP (XL too)

I know that this is likely to be a simple question for many of you, but since I am not up to 100% on the astro series radios, Will AStro software encryption also pass through clear repeaters?
