Does anyone have or are able to put together a programming guide for the ASTRO Saber. I got the RSS Software, RIB and Cables. Someone told me that if you do it wrong, it will become a paperweight. Can someone e-mail me some programming tips for dummies? My Main intent is to pass this on to a friend, who is a "Dummy"

Take a read through this:

Doesn't specificly cover astro sabers, but will give your friend a good overview.
Also check out the Astro Saber page.

Nothing you can do with the regular RSS, short of interrupting the write cyle, can turn the radio into a paperweight. Step through each screen, and read the "help" menu associated with each parameter on the screen. That will go a long way towards building your understanding of both the programming, and how the radio can react to changing different parameters in the programming. Remember, you can mess around in the codeplug as much as you wish. Nothing will really change until you hit the "save" button, and nothing will go into the radio until you hit the "write" button. So mess around all you want and when you're done or want to start over, either read the radio or codeplug again, and start fresh.
