What's the error on the radio? Fail 01/92?

Hmmmm. I once had a fail 01/92 and that was the RSS symptom. Have you tried rebooting everything, computer, rib, radio?

Do you have an old archive laying around?

a second or 2 after the f8 pgm button is pressed it says checksum error, but will still communicate fine to read and fine to radio check and fine to service. i have tried other archives, they load into RSS fine but wont go into radio still says checksum error. HMMMM

Sounds like the first or second checksum bytes got corrupted somehow.

The "proper" answer would be to "depot" it so they can use their software to re-initialize the codeplug or push an S-record into it.

Maybe someone else knows a work around...

Have you tried to load in a good saved codeplug? I would try to load one in and see what happens, and double check all connections from the computer to the radio, and put a fresh battery in the RIB to be safe.

Checksum error

Bro,

From what I've learned, the Checksum error occurrs when you dont' have enough ram to program a radio with a crapload of channels....

For example, if you have 32 megs of ram, you might only get 30 or 40 channels in....

In my case, I had tried to program XTS3000's... once I hit like the 40 or 50 channel area, the computer would give me more checksums... Once I tried a computer with 128 meg or more of ram, went right in....

WHat computer set up are you using?

Mike
