I have one with the microphone and power harness all are new but I dont have the external speaker which I believe is an amplified one. What I want to know is must I use an amplified speaker into the DB25 plug, or can I simply use a normal Motorola speaker and solider the wires into a DB25 plug (onto the right pins of course) and use it that way????
I want to know BEFORE I do it, so I do not risk screwing anything up with the AVA unit as it cost me a few dollars....
Thank you all!

If, I say IF, the audio setup is basically similar to the Saber SVA's then what you get at the DB25 connector is line-level audio which is not sufficient to drive a speaker alone. It may make some noise, but it won't be enough to make you happy. The regular SVA remote speakers with the built-in amplifiers go for about $25 these days and are super performers. I think the number is 6054.

I believe there is a second set of pins on the DB 25 which do provide amplified audio. On my Saber SVA, I poked around and found some, maybe try pins 8+9, but beware, I believe it's ballanced audio, don't tie one side to ground. Good luck, Will
