Guys, quick question
Just for my conveniance, please explain me possible reasons why DES XL encryption is not possible to be configured during programming mentioned radio using original Motorola RIB and software ( both DOS and Windows version ).
DES XL module is present but software encryption options are not possible to configure.
Flash, firmware, or something similar?
thanks

Hi Bravo,
As far as I remember only radios with VSELP DSP firmware support "software" encryption. Never CAI radios does not support "software" encryption.
The DES/XL module are purely hardware encryption and you will need to keyload the radio with a DX keyloader with the proper cable.

Thank you,
Still, there are options that clearly guide you trough RSS to enter software variable key trough RSS and those are detaily described in provided RSS Manual.
Do you think that fatal mistake could happend at Motorola facotry or at distributor?

If you have a VSLEP radio, with the software encypt, you can enter the keys via RSS. You can NEVER enter a key for HARDWARE encypt (any radio).
If you have an IMBE radio with software encypt, its a hacked radio, and it won't work anyways, even if the options are there.
That's pretty much the story for that.

PJ is right about the encryption. A IMBE radio does not allow "software" keys to be programmed into the radio with RSS and that it proberly why you cannot access the options inside the RSS.
Have you tested the radios flashcode on the flash decoder?? You can find the decoder on Batlabs when you enter the site. Then you can see if your radio is VSELP or IMBE.

The flash decoder by itself is not 100 percent reliable in determining if a radio is VSELP or IMBE. It is also necessary to know the radio's HOST and DSP firmware revision numbers.
