Not able to hear ASTRO station without pressing Monitor

I have a local PD programmed into my ASTRO Saber III. I have the channel setting to ASTRO, and in receive only mode. As I have learned, there is no tone setting for the astro systems. I cannot hear this station unless I hold down the monitor key. Any Ideas? I am sure that It is a simple setting that i am missing.

Also, when listening to a conventional system, there is alot of interferance that bleeds over and breaks the squelch of yet another PD in the area. Is there a way to adjust the Squelch setting? Also, can this be set after the radio is programmed (Programed by Front of radio)?

Again, bare with me on this one guys, I have to start somewhere and I am learning new things every day. Im not Perfect.

Thanks.

Do you have it set for Digital carrier squelch? This may be your problem.

Where would I find that setting in RSS? I know in conventional mode there is a place to set the Type of tone and tone, but when ASTRO is selected, that option goes away. Thanks

From the conventional screen you're referring to above, press "F9-more options", then "F6-Astro options". On the right side of the screen, you'll see "RX Unmute Rule". Your options are "Normal Squelch" and "Digital CSQ". Setting it to DSQ will cause your radio to ignore the network ID, and open up on any digital traffic.

Perhaps he is thinking allong the lines of MDC1200 where "FFFF" is all wild-card. It would be like a non-specific ID. I'm going to guess it wouldn't work here though.
