Field Maintenance of Computer Mounts

We have been using Gamber Johnson computer mounts for about two years now.

Lately, some of the mounts have been difficult to dock/undock the laptops.

This problem was originally thought to be related to cold weather, but has not improved with warming.

Does anyone perform any field maintenance on their units, and if so, what is involved.

We use L & E mounts here and have had few problems so far. (we don't remove the computers from ours often). Internally the docking mechanism may be binding on yours. This may be due to some hardware coming loose or the mechanism may be binding on come cabling internally. On the L & E stations when you install the RF cabling kit you have to be careful when you route the coax internally as it causes binding. Try manipulating the docking / undocking with the laptop removed and see if it moves freely.

What specific Gamber Johnson docking station are you using?

L&E all the way! Chuck the GJs- they are light duty.

Won't know until I get back to work Monday.

Holds the Panasonic CF-27.

If you have had them for a couple of years and it is a DOCKING station and not just a mount then you probably have a true Panasonic docking station that Gamber resells and attaches mounting pieces to. This is what I have and I love it. Occassionally I have the same undocking problem you have. I haven't had problems docking it though. Waiting to see if it does it with my CF-28 which I just got.

I should have been more specific.

The mount is okay.

If I give much more force when docking and undocking, something is gonna break.

I ASSUMED that the entire assembly was made by GJ.

My mistake.

We have a few spares floating around. May just swap it out.
