DSP delay...

Takes a slight amount of time longer for the audio to be processed in an astro radio than an analog radio. I don't know why but that was the explaination that was given to me...

I was told that the DSP causes the delay.

Yep :D even in analog mode, your audio is still feed through the DSP which takes a split second to process before audio is transmitted.

You got to admit the audio that passes through the DSP sounds great on the other end. People always tell me how clear and clean my audio is on my AS3.

The receive audio is also passed through a DSP, so there will be a delay as well. All of this is completely normal :D

Also you may want to see if the RX delay option is turned on, and what its value is.

The RX delay option only governs how long the radio waits to unmute it's speaker upon carrier detect. It has no effect on the actual DSP processing delay or echo effect.

r0f wrote:Different firmware revisions have different DSP delays. Don't worry about it. It's completely naturual. If you're hearing feedback (squeeling) then turn your volume down, or use a speaker-mic. It will go away. If you're hearing a slight echo while listening to yourself talk (on another astro) don't worry!!!!!! It's the way the radio works. It's got a DSP, and takes time to go back and forth from analog/digital.

8) now this is the best explanation that ive had so far .and just for the record the echo is hapening in analog when i transmit to any other radio brand ive tried transmiting to 5 diferent radios in analog same thing.but thanks to all that helpd
