ID display on an ASTRO spectra or XTS3000

What is required to dispay the ID of the transmitting radio on the display of an ASTRO Spectra or XTS3000?
It is operatiing on a SmartZone system. I just can't find an option in the software. I am using CPS R02.00.00 (most recent I believe).
I have done it on a SmartNet MCS2000 so assumed the "higher tier" Spectra and XTS would do it.
Thanks,
Alan

Btw, digital ID display only works on digital systems.. Or analog, when using MDC. It won't show you the RID of a trunked analog user
What do you mean by RID?
On an analogue Smartnet system I can display the trunking ID on a MCS2000.
Is it different for Smartnet?
Is it different for a SPECTRA?
Is it different for a XTS3000?
The flash code of this SPECTRA mobile is 100008-000000-0
The flashcode for the XTS3000 portable is 100008-000000-0
Thanks,

I've never seen a radio that can display the Radio ID (RID) of a calling unit, on an analog trunked system, during normal talkgropu operation, via the display. Digital is a different story.

Sure you can. Any MCS2000 or MTS2000 with the proper Flashcode can display the radio ID, as well as regular SmartNet Spectras (not Astro). I used the MCS2000 to display the ID of thousands of radios while I was programming the initial batch of radios onto our SmartZone system to ensure it was the right one. To be honest, I've never tried it with an XTS3000 or Astro Spectra. I assumed it would work, but it's been posted here it doesn't.

Yep, not sure how I could have said it any clearer. Normal everyday analog talkgroup conversations. You need the radio flashed so it shows "F9 - more options" in the "display & menu" screen. Under that, the only option is "caller ID". You can set it to disabled, ID only, and Alias (certain models).
Yes, it gets this information from the control channel (except the alias' of course, it cross references a list you program in the radio).

I'm pretty sure that displaying the RID on a talkgroup call will work with the analog only radios. It just won't work with the Astros in analog mode (will work with digital). For some reason Moto didn't carry that feature over into the Astros.

But what if it's message trunking ? I can see how the radio might get the first radio's ID at the beginning of a conversation, but how would it get the other radio ID's if it is "stuck" on the voice channel's repeater hang time ? Does it flip back and forth between the control channel and the voice channel even when there is repeater hang time ?

Good question. That is a limitation of an analog message trunking system. You will not see any other ID's show up other than the first, if people get in on the hang-time. Had to explain that many times to the police dispatchers using Centracom Elite consoles.
