I have a 99 Chevy Silverado. Bucket seats with the factory console. I need to keep the console but can do away with the upright section with the CD storage compartment. Has anyone done an install similiar to this? Could you suggest a console with part number?

Can you give us an idea on what you want and how many things you would like to put in it?
This will give us a better idea on what to suggest. There are several good vendors and if only looking for one or 2 radios , maybe you can work with the factory stuff.
I only needed 1 spectra and a scanner and was able to modify the factory center console for the spectra and the overhead console for the scanner.
You can see my setup at

It's not as impressive as others, but for me, simplicity worked.

I need to put three items in the console, a Yaesu FT-8900r, siren control, and a Vertex VX-4000. I need to keep passenger floor/knee board open for passengers. Console is two parts like yours, I wanted to be able to replace the factory console with a aftermarket unit. I want to keep the OEM console with the lift up lid and cup holders. I was hoping there was a direct replacement.

http://www.troyproducts.com makes several that will fit nicely
http://www.gamberjohnson.com also makes nice consoles.
http://www.stewartproducts.com is excellent as well.
All make model specific baseplates
I'm setting up an 03 suburban, removing the factory console and replacing it with a Troy Products CC-024 from the modcon line.

I finally was able to upload 2 pics of the remote mount Spectra using the flat computer cable.
I did not take pics of the radio unit, I think that anyone can figure that part out, just place pin 1 (the red or blue stripe end) to pin 1 on the radio and match that up with pin 1 on the control head.

I hope this helps.
P.S. The coffee stains are NOT required for this to work

cranbiz,
I like the scanner mount but the HT charger looks like a knee remover.
THe console looks ok, but I wonder how many drink spills it will survive.
