2001 Silverado console

Hi all -- I'm looking to install a radio in addition to the scanner I have in the truck (I'm a portable radio addict, not mobile :D). I'd like to keep it all under dash, but after investigating several options and even "dry fitting" a couple of things, I don't think it'll work.

Does anyone have suggestions for a console? The sticking point is that I have a 40/20/40 bench seat with no center console. I would also like to NOT drill into the transmission hump. Are there any smaller ones that use the seat plates? I didn't see any when I looked through the Troy and Gamber Johnson catalogs at work. Perhaps something like the Jotto Desk low profile for Crown Vics/Impala/Lumina similar the one JAYMZ just posted?

I'm only mounting a Vertex VX4000 VHF and a Bearcat 785D...

Any help is appreciated...need more info? Let me know.

Troy has what you need including no holes drilled base plate for that truck. check their website http://www.troyproducts.com and look under bench seat consoles. You can then bolt that to a no holes drilled baseplate.

I appreciate the quick reply; I've already checked that, and, unless I'm missing something, Troy says explicity that the no holes drilled floor mounts can't be used for bench seats...from the floor mount page:
IMPORTANT:
If your vehicle has a bench seat, there is no way for a floor mount to be installed.
Am I missing something?

Well yes.... I should have asked this.

What kind of a bench seat do you have? a true one piece bench or a couple of buckets in a 40-60 split that looks like a bench?

Nothing that a MIG welder and some 1 1/2" X 1/8" flatbar can't do!
Make brackets that attach the console's feet to the holes in the floorpan that are used for the buckets. These holes are usually unused for bench or 60/40 seats and can be found with the carpet peeled away. To mark the holes, go under the truck and drive a pointed awl throuh the hole and into the carpet.

This works on Chevy and Ford so far.

It's the passenger and driver's seats with a middle "seat" with a fold down armrest and storage container, with the whole thing configured to be a bench seat.

jim, I like the idea...but I'm a little short on skills for it.. I've already asked one place to look at it and make suggestions. I'd like to see what the Batlabbers have to say. Maybe I could head out to your place. I've got lots of friends from college in the 'burgh...

BTW, love the "summer is my favorite week..." comment. Oh so true! (went to school in Meadville)
