HHCH Protocol details?

Anyone know anything about the protocol between the HHCH and an XTS/A-Saber? I'm curious as to the difficulty of developing a custom build application to interface with an XTS3000 thru the accessory port.

Maybe someone has some info to offer, but if not, you can probably sort it out with a logic analyzer (assuming you are interested as a personal project)

If you are thinking about developing a product to sell, you might as well start by contacting Motorola - it's a sure bet that they have one or more patents protecting the protocol.

This is a designed process within the company - they create a new protocol and patent it just to prevent Joe's Screen Doors and Radio Accessories Company from building add on products.

I haven't seen any patents that cover this protocol, so that means that it's buried in a license agreement somewhere....

Anyway, this is for personal expermentation for the moment.... I wont cross the bridge with Motorola just yet.

They use a mask burned micro inside of the head. Each has a different number for each product. All the rest of the parts are the same. My guess is that the data packets are the same.

I guess my question is, I wonder what the data packets are - TTL? RS232? Would a standard level convertor work?

Hmm.....

The protocol is patented and is called sb9600. Good luck getting a license from them. It's TTL and not RS232 level. I have analyzed the communication and understand their protocol. The problem is that I cannot use it because it is legally protected.

The bastritos. That is why /\/\ will go broke. Why use industry standards when you can spend $$$$ on your own protocall.
I can't wait for the auction when they go under.

I found some information on the protocol on the USPTO web site (patent and trade).
