Anyone got a set of these? Do they really look blacked out when off?

Yes- they look black when off. There is an internal "honeycomb" shaped grid inside of the lens that is black. The light passes straight through it. When off and looked at from all but a dead-straight angle, you see tham as black.
That kinda sounds like I'm describing and LED, huh? (!)

Yeah, it does
Thanks....I wondered how much was reality and how much was "retouched" photos
I'm thinking about getting a set for my pushbar, hence the question. They are bigger than the 550's I've got on it now, but if they are darker and stick out less it'd probably be okay.

Let me know how they work out if you get them. I am thinking about picking them up too for the Jeep.

I have noticed them too. The only concern I have is that the only covers I have seen with them are white. It kinda goes against the black lens and black housings... I'm sure you can get black ones, but you would think they would come standard.

My thought was:
Black car...black pushbar..."black" lights....go for the stealthy look.
Logical, right?
Forget the white covers, just get the clear stone shields. I painted the 550's covers black, and that worked out good. I run the 550's with the clear stone shields now, since I got sick of taking those silly covers off all the time.
