Need Link Suggestions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello, I want to throw this out and get some different ideas on what direction I might wanna go....I have a client who has a roof top spot on a 20 story building..The client is an FD. There main ops repeater is on the builing and is remote based, however I want to also put the simplex fireground channel up there to, but I am a little torn on the best way to make it happen. I want to stay away from lease-line. They have a moto console it is going to be interfaced to which isn't the problem. The 20 story building is within 1/4 mile of the dispatch center, and is line of site from the dispatch buildings parkinglot to the top of the 20 story roof....Any ideas will help.
P.S. Currently there simplex f/g channel is on there 80 foot monopole, but isn't cutting the mustard....

I'm confused, If you were to put a Simplex F/G up on this building then all you would need is 2 people and 2 radio's standing on either side of the roof???
How do you have a Simplex set up on a 20' Monopole??????
I could have misread your post, and maybe I don't understand the question. But Simplex means that there is no repeaters, it's just Radio to Radio communications. Is this what you have, or are you trying to put a F/G channel Repeater up there???

Would a cross-band repeater setup work for you? Lets say your simplex fireground is on VHF then link to UHF and transmit back to Dispatch using a beam type antenna. This could pose a problem with frequency allocation in your area but it might be all you need. The remote site setup would be minimal cost but the dispatch console linking to radio and all that who knows.

I think I may have not been explicit enough on my post, or it was misread...I obviously know that simplex is radio to radio.....Thats why I am askng for link alternatives or suggestions other than lease line or cross band. I need to put the f/g transmit radio ontop of this tall builing and get the signal back to the base unit....What other forms are available, Micro, RF telephone line extender, things along the lines w/o license issues...Thanks, Rob

A simple solution is to put a RICK with 2 radios on the 20 story building. It will have great lookout to monitor the simplex channel, and you can send the info from the receiver back on a yagi aimed at the HQ. I have several systems like that for school bus dispatching. We get over 20 miles with just 2 yagi's pointed at one another on UHF, with 2 watts out.

To add to my previous post, just hook up a tone remote interface panel to the UHF link transceiver located at the HQ, and tie it into one of the consoles available slots.

Oaky, I thought of that, but the roblem is it will only work one way....I am using a simplex channel, not a pair, so how would I exactly do that..Lets say for example the freq is 453.100, and I have a maxtrac up on the 20 story builiding connected to a tone remote, how do I get the signal there. If i did use a rick setup it would involve more freqs. I basically need to extend a lease line (but w/o using a lease line ?????). I looked in tessco, and it cost over 4,000 for a lease line emulator in the license free 2.4 gig band, but that is way over budget unfortunately....So how do I make this happen...I basically im looking a a spectra tac voting reciever type set-up-----but an altenrative to using another convential freq, and plus I need the tx side!!!!!....Thanks for the halp so far, Rob

Alright, here is how I do it with my school busses, including a cross band coupler, to use only one coax run up the tower. The base station frequency is low band, 47.XX . The base antenna is located on top of a 400ft tower. The coax at the top of the tower is split two ways, with a cross band coupler, one to the low band unity gain base antenna, the other is a UHF link yagi aimed at the dispatch office 20 miles away. At the other end of the coax, at the base of the tower is the 350w low band transmitter, going into a cross band coupler, with the UHF repeater, or in your case if you don't want to use a pair of channels, a mobile radio. At the dispatch office is a mobile radio,with a yagi antenna pointed at the tower 20 miles away. The mobile is located in a closet on the second floor, hooked up to a tone remote termination panel, with in house phone wire hooked up to multiple tone remote consoles. When dispatch transmits, the tone remote activates the mobile, via it's tone remote panel, keying it up and transmitting audio. At the tower the audio is received, a signal is pulled off the repeater, or in your case another mobile which causes the low band trnsmitter to key and transmit the UHF receive audio. When the low band receives audio, a signal, COR or better PL decode causes the UHF link to transmit, rebroadcasting the low band audio on the UHF link to the reciver at the dispatch center. The UHF mobile recieves the audio, puts it on the in house phone line and there you are a complete link, without phone lines.
