Scan Issue on Astro Spectra

I noticed that when my unit scans it stops on the channels and sits there even if the activity is on another pl. The radio then resumes scanning when the activity stops.

I have tried all scan configuration types including priority channel marking.

Is there anyway to avoid the radio sitting on channels which have off pl activity and just let it scan through like every other radio?

Thanks in advance.

Mike

ps: I do not hear the activity, the channels stops, and yellow busy light comes on. Activity stops, and radio continues scanning.

Right under "priority channel marking" there should be "carrier detect required" or something similar. That needs to be disabled...

Well, I think I tried that and it still doesn't work. Someone had mentioned that it's just because it's an older model and that's why it occurrs however I thought there has GOT TO BE some way of upgrading it so it doesn't happen.

Anytime there is activity, or if the radio thinks there is activity on a scan channel that uses 1st or 2nd priority, the radio will stop on it....but won't unsquelch. The happens with the x9000's, spectra, astro spectra etc. It was done as a safety feature way back when. This does not happen with non-priorty channels.

You can try the priorty channel marker, but if you use it for public safety etc, there is the possiblity that you can miss the beginning of the radio tranmission before the radio reconizes the correct PL is being used. Sucks, but that's how these radios work.

Also for good measure, just make sure you have a good ground on the mic as well. Its not a matter of upgrading the radio, I have never heard that. Its just the design of the radio.
