I lost power to a maxtrac while in the service mode. It now gives me a low tone upon power up which I think is a corrupt code plug I have a codeplug for a maxtrac but has a different serial number. Can I use a hex editor to change the serial number of the good codeplug change the checksum and write it to the radio thanks for your help bob

Hi

Why don't you try to clone the good code plug to the radio first. Not sure if it will work!!!

tried that but lost the image of the corrupt radio and you need that to clone over the top i have used hex editor to change the number of channels in a gm300 so thought that i could edit the codeplug s/n and rewrite to the radio cannot find the revised cp in the archive file to retrieve bob

Your best bet, and easiest solution, is to use Lab and blank the logic board. Then, reinitialize it as the radio and model its supposed to be.

Since you may have also tweeked the tune data, you probably should not save it either. Just go into the service menu and set the alignment points. Deviation, frequency, and power.

Even if you could bit bang the code plug, you may have some bits that aren't right and may come back to haunt you later.

HI:

Sorry to hear that.

Anyhow, the easy way is to " Enter " the Same Service
Screen as you had " piror " to the power failure.

Sometimes it works.

Also, try the " board replacement " menu too.

If you are not able to enter either one of these
modes, and you can't read or clone the exact code
plug, you will need to blank & re-initialize the Logic
Board, and re-alighn the entire Tx Soft pot values.

If you do not have the Equipment, iy would be
best to let a Qualified Tech address the issues.

If you can't find one in your area, we do provide
" FULL " Service & Support for ALL Maxtracs and
GM300's too !
