Anyone in the market for 9C1/9C3 or Tahoe Special Service

Post by CAPTLPOL »

Well if anyone is the market for Chevrolet Impalas, Tahoes, or Surburbans, I have the hook up. The local dealer won't order one for you or more than likely doesn't know how but won't admit it and just say he can't, just let me know. I have the hook-up for such packages.

No I was refering to the Impala 9C1 and 9C3. Sorry for the confusion. The Tahoe and the Suburban are offered as a Fleet/Commercial unit as well as the LS/Z71/LT models. The Tahoe has the Special Service Unit whch is nothing more than a few special equipment options that are available such as a front bucket seat with center console delete. The Fleet/Commercial Suburban just allows you to decontent some of the LS options. Their was more flexabilty previous to 2003 and 2004, however, GM has changed the amount of decontened options.

Did by any chance GM drop the Z-56 options in the newer Suburbans? Curious...

The 99 GMC I was given is a 2500 with Z-56 +++ and +++ Z71 (still cant figure out THAT one)

The truck was basically an LS fleet model really stripped down with a 454, and the rest of the Z56 stuff. the only bummer (and a big one) was that for some reason the thing didnt come with the SEO for front buckets-no console. Still stuck with the grey bench seats.

Glad to see GM still in the fleet/commercial/special duty arena!

be careful out there...

I highly doubt GM will ever get out of the fleet commercial stuff.

The way my suburban was ordered it came off the medium duty line in texes with the rest of the fleet/commercial vehicles.

Well their is an SEO for console delete in lieu of bucket seats with console delete. This gives the same effect. One can order the bucket seats with the inboard armrests and cloth and get the center console delete SEO. In addition, their is an SEO for the 40/20/40 split bench vinyl seats with the 20 section removed in vinyl trim. An additional SEO allows the front seat to be cloth and the rear seats vinyl.

Ok you seem to be in the know on this.

Explain this one: I ordered my truck back in January of 03

2003 K2500 Suburban LS with buck seats and CONSOLE delete option were selected.

Why did I end up with a center console and why is there stuff (silver box and what looks like more of the heater core) mounted in it??????

I did specify the upgraded bose audio system - maybe that had something to do with it. Otherwise I ordered the truck like the fleet vehicles.

In order to have the Bose option, you must have the center console. The Bose audio hardware is in the center console.

Ok that's what I though - although the bose hardware appears to be a simple silver box with several high density connectors on it.

What the hell is the big black thing that looks like heater core type plastic that GM uses????

It was previous to the 2003 model year. It is no longer there. Look at the fake speaker grille in the back of your Suburban.

yeah I looked.... just great.

So I bought a nice stereo and its basically screwing my entire radio install.

Of course no one knew or explained this to me when I ordered the option.

Sure but that sound system is pretty good. Did you opt for the XM radio, or did you get a Commercial/Fleet 1ST Suburban?

As a note, the Bose audio system is available in the Fleet/Commerical Suburban, however, the console delete is not available if the Bose is desired.

yes it is.

The bose audio is nice - but do you know if the sub is the same size as int he previous years?

I'd be willing to remove it and re-install it back where it was on the other models.

The duramax would be great to have the burban. Mine has a 350 in it now, but I would kill for a diesel!

Too bad you couldnt order one with a cummins and a allison, Now there would be a bad ass suburban!

Simple project later in the trucks life when its time for a new engine!

Other than fuel mileage there really isn't much difference betweent the 6.0 and the 8.1 blocks about 20 HP and 80ft of torque all of which can be added ot the 6.0

I'm probably ordering a Banks intake/exhaust kit for the truck
