Batboard

Just wondering if I should get one vs. another style. It is selling for $250. Only need it for conventional use.

My two bits worth:
I have worked on lots of these.
I presume that you are talking about the 70W model (solid state PA).
I would not touch the 120W Tube type with your 10' pole!
I would suggest an MSF5000, digital, or analog.


The Micor was a great radio, but trying to re-crystal the transmit oven can be very tedious.
After doing about ten of these I decided in the future to get the transmit oven re crystalled at International Crystal Co.

The PA can be troublesome if subjected to high temperatures.
Motorola no longer provides much support for this product.

Other than that everything else is about the same as any other Micor.

Great repeater, if you're talking about the 75 watt solid state units. I find the PA's are far less troublesome if you run the repeater with the front & rear doors off. Cut our on-site calls to about 25% of what they were with the doors on in our 12-repeater trunked site.

My two bits worth:
I left the rear door on, because that is where I mounted the fans..
Turned the A/C down to the point just before it frosted.
Still have 10 channels of these stations.
Much better service life when kept cool.
