I have and HT1000 and the volume seems to be loud at even its lowest level. Are there any adjustments to lower the db levels???

I beleive the HT1250 has this option but I'm not sure of the HT1000.

Thanks
Chris

Hi:

You probably have a Broken Pot.

Pretty Common on those radios...I have
replaced alot of them....

Generally the Low side of the VC breaks
away from the ground.

Could be a cold solder joint too !!

Also check the ribbon cable connecting the two main boards together. I've had many of these come loose and usually results in the high volume. This is due to vibration and "DROPPING" the unit.

Thanks for the info. How do you open up the radio to check these things???

Thanks;

There is a setting for the maximum volume in the RSS. Was this a former law enforcement radio?? If so, that would probably explain the loud volume setting, most departments set the volume to about 230, with 255 being the highest setting(I think), that way if they are in the middle of a highway directing traffic they can still hear dispatch over the sound of loud vehicles that may pas by.
