I am doing an install on a older model chevorlet truck that we are putting work lighting under the truck. We want it so when the truck is in PARK that the lights come on. I believe that the truck is too old to have a nuetral safety switch. Anymore ideas?

I'm not sure exactly of year and model. It was an army surplus, maybe early 80's model?

If you want me to I can check again. Anyways without a nuetral safety switch, how would you do it?

Well, you have to built a swicth on the shift linkage. That may or may not be worth the effort / expense compared to just putting a switch on the dash.

This one's simple. Even your little sister can do it!

Go to Crap Shack (or elsewhere) and get a magnetic reed type alarm switch set. Moun the mgnet on the shift lever under column. Make a bracket to go under a nearby bolt and run the bracket toward the magnet (in park) and mount the reed switch on the bracket. Use a Bosch relay to switch the current.

Bend to adjust!

I do this on K9 door openers and it's flawless- and easy.
