Nissan hardbody fender bracket

I tried to install a regular Larsen right-angle antenna bracket in the gap between hood and fender. This does not work because the fender edge has a peculiar shape. I have never seen this before. What is the best solution?
I had to beat the bracket and bend it into a strange shape, so it would clear the hood edge.

I have used a regular lip mount antenna on a hood before - mount it up nearest the winshield. Note, you cant always use this type depending on the shape of the metal.

The other choice is to use a magnetic mount antenna.
Good luck!

With the new cars styles and the tight fit of the hood/trunk, I try to avoid the stand-off trunk-lid type mounts if at all possible. Even if it does fit/work, you have to worry if the coax is getting crimped every time the hood/trunk is opened and closed.

Try to mount the antenna to the body if possible - a better antenna placement, grounding, and solid mounting.

If not, and the unit is low powered, you might look into the thru-the-glass antennas.

I have not seen any mounts for the commercial antennas that are not like the motorola ones.
