Where are the VHF ASIII's?

Ok, Astro guys - help me out. I only posted this here since this is a piece of Astro equipment I'm looking for...

I've been looking high and low, and other then finding a few used whored-out "Nick" radios, I can't find a VHF ASIII to save my butt.

I'm not going to buy an ebay radio, and a few forums have radios listed, but upon closer investigation they are junk or Nick specials (based off of flashcode).

What gives? Where are they hiding?

I thought about an XTS3500, but I just don't "like" them....if that makes any sense.

I know this is not going to be a cheap proposition. I'm getting rid of some excess surplus to help finance it...ratehr have something I'm gonna use :)

I just can't believe the lack of VHF ASIII's....

I have a VHF RF Board, new, in the packaging... only opened to see it...

Regardless, I have a VHF 3500 - I'm very very happy with the radio... No complaints here.

(DO you really need all the fun stuff on VHF? Besides Display ID and a couple of the MDC goodies?)

astro market fluxuates a lot. Seems to have dried up right now. There were new in box legit surplus XTS5000 UHF's on a couple days ago but they went poof rather quickly without actually selling.

I too am still in the same boat as 007 trying to find legit AS3 or XTS radios with little luck.

I have seven at the shop(4Full Keypad/3-6Button).
They are all OEM Motorola with all the tags, BUT!!!!

Nick upgraded them with 1Meg Vocons and HIS Flash (they were 512K).

If your interested PM and I'll pass along the shop # and you can speak to the owner.

No, I don't a macked-out flash...even if I did, I still wouldn't get a Nick radio, since those are the land of incompatibility.

All I need in the VHF is a 1 meg vocoder for IMBE, smartnet, mdc1200 and DVP-XL. I'm not asking for much here...we are talking about an Astro here - my flash should be an easy order to fill :-?

It's only one district that has the Astro system, and it only has 4 or 5 TG's...one of which is the analog simulcast.

I'm going to digital so we can have a radio that can come up on the Astro side. I verified the other day I can hear it in the parking lot with a portable, and full strength with a spare VHF dipole on the HQ tower....it's an interoperability project on top of a "redundant" plan. Yeah....
