Just got a 1997 Explorer anyone have any ideas, can't remove the center console because it holds the CD player and has heat/AC vents. Any input would be appreciated.

go to Havis-Shields or Jotto Desk. They both make console that fit on the stock console without modifying it.

very slick stuff.

My wife's vehicle is a '98 2 door Explorer. After many months of begging, I got to put ONE radio in it...

I put the Spectra A9 head just below the air/heater/fan controls (you can still get to them easily). You can also still use the little pocket-thingys on the console as it curves up from the cup-holder/change holder to the air/heater/fan control section.

The speaker is mounted on the passenger side up under the glove box.

You might even have more room if you are using an A5/7 head, that is if you are using a remote mount radio.

Search: Are those a bunch of TK630, 730 & 830?

Yepper, you most certainly are correct. Might be getting new vehicle though soon, and converting to CDM1250 remote heads on VHF and UHF. Will most likely keep the 630 for lowband. Anyone have any console ideas on the newer (01-04) explorers?
