When I first turn on my MT2000, I get the beep, then it says “self test”.
This Msg. will not clear and the radio will not work until I push the side, top
Button that is programmed as “zone/sys select. Is this normal ?
I would think the self test Msg. should clear by itself after a short time.

You are correct, it is not normal for the 'self test' to remain on the screen. Double-check in the RSS that you haven't duplicated any functions in multiple button/switch positions. That can sometimes cause the problem you describe.
