Caller ID on xts3000

Is Caller ID possible on XTS3000?
800mhz- Smartzone
Using CPS ver 3.00.00
Under Radio Config \ Display & Menu\ PTT-ID: ID Display and Scan Id display are checked.
Please help..

Yup, it is. But you'll only see the Hex MDC ID, not the aliased names

I guess the other thing to point out is that you'll need to enable PTT ID and a signalling system in the personality.
If that doesn't give enough of a clue, I can open up my CPS later and let you know the check boxes etc that you need to have enabled.

Display ID H14? will let you...
See MDC1200 ID's on conventional systems
See unit ID on conventional astro systems
See SoftID's (alphanumeric) on conventional astro systems
See unit ID on astro trunked system
Will NOT see ID's on analog trunked systems
I don't know if SoftID works on trunked astro systems.

I'm with PJ.
I had an 800 XTS that lacked display ID, and it would not pull PTT ID's from a conventional system.
With Display ID, it would.

rOf's point is well taken. Seems like M sometimes drops features from higher tiered radios that are found on models that preceded them. An ASTRO case in point of this: ASTRO Live Dialing (eg, Data 12 Packets per APCO25 in digital ASTRO mode, somewhat akin to analog DTMF in FM analog mode). ASTRO Digital Live Dial is possible with the XTS3000 and ASTRO Spectra Mobile via a very simple workaround (blank out Preaccess and Deaccess in the Phone Settings in CPS 3.0, and your keypad will now support ASTRO Live Dial of Data 12 packets). But, neither the XTS5000 not the XTL5000 support ASTRO Live Dialing, not even with this simple workaround. There is therefore NO WAY to ASTRO Dial with this newer (and somewhat higher tiered) replacement ASTRO radio(s). This is a real problem if you depend upon ASTRO Dialing! (Supposedly, ASTRO Live Dialing will eventually be supported in these new radios, but not for some time.)

Veddy Interestink - We've been having some problems trying to duplicate what some customers have been seeing with their radios, and it sounds like you may have the key. The XTS3000 we have just sends Trunking LCO7 packets when we try to dial, and we are being asked about another format.
Could you give me the exact menus within the CPS3.0 software you are talking about, so I can try it on our radio and see if it changes what packets it sends?

CPS 3.00.00 On-The-Fly Digital Live ASTRO Keypad Dialing Workaround Procedure (for XTS 3000 and ASTRO Spectra only. Note: Neither the ASTRO Spectra Plus, XTL 5000, nor the XTS 3500 will support ASTRO Live Dialing, even with this workaround. It is planned for a future release on these radios, but will be a fully supported mode, not requiring this, nor any other, workaround(s).

You may want to check your DELAY/HOLD options, as the factory settings bring up a radio from the standby/Receive mode into full PTT hold, and then outpulse the Data 12 Packets, for a grand total of 63 milliseconds from a cold stanby condition to completion of the entire PTT sequence. This could be a little fast, depending on your particular setup. The MRTI 2000 handles this with ease, as does the Quantar. You may also want the U453AA "Fast Key-Up" option on the Quantar (so other ASTRO subscriber radios can "see" the Data 12's coming over the Quantar (as opposed to those packets heading through the Quantar's ASTRO modem, destined for the DIU 3000). Otherwise, the normal Quantar takes over 30 msecs to key-up, which is half the total time of the entire sequence. I suppose you could set the delay a bit longer on the Data 12 TX parameters, if this is an issue (e.g., you don't have Fast Key-Up on your Quant). BTW, if you decide to FLASHport Fast Key-Up to an existing Quant, its code is U453AE (as opposed to U453AA for a new Quant).
Remember, you will be sending APCO 25 defined Data 12 Packets (Unacknowledged), as opposed to Data 18 APCO Packets (Acknowleded). I don't have a clue as to what type of packets your customers are referring to. Also, keep in mind that all of my settings are for a conventional system, not Trunked. All bets are off if they are attempting Digital Live Dialing in Trunking mode! BTW, the DIU 3000 will send out analog DTMF 100 msec burst tones out the RJ-45 Phone Patch jack (on the DIU's rear panel) as it decodes the Data 12 packets. There is even a way to change/program the 100 msec DTMF burst duration, if that becomes necessary. Also, as you probably know, the Data 12 Packets encrypt just fine with both DES-OFB and AES, as we have tested both encryption modes of these Data 12 Packets all the way through the DIU 3000 and through to the MRTI 2000. We made lots of calls this way, with no glitches. If nothing else, this technique will ensure that your customer's Access Codes are kept private from Inquiring Ears listening to your P25 iput and output on the PRO-96.
One more note. The reverse of this also works like a champ! If the landline caller hits DTMF on their phone and the system is in ASTRO mode, you receive DATA 12 Packets on your ASTRO P and/or M radios! If the system is in analog FM, then when the landline callers hits their DTMF pad, you will hear and decode DTMF on your ASTRO P and/or M radios. Again, encryption also works perfectly in this reverse mode.
There are a ton of other tricks you can play with this lash-up, such as highly sophisticated repeater control that is impervious to eavesdroppers.
