Moto Disco's XTS3000?

I was talking today to one of Moto largest Public Safety customer and
he told me that Moto was going to discontinue the manufacturing and sale
of the XTS3000 family at the end of the month.
The XTS5000 will replace it. Can anyone confirm
or refute this information? BTW the list price of the
XTS5000 and options is the same as the 3K. This has
been true for about two years. Any have theory why
this is true. Usually added function such as 700 MHz,
IMPRESS, double the number of talkgroups should
command a higher price over the 3K.

The 3K will always be cheaper, and the secure boards are readily available to hackers, for CHEAP CHEAP.

If the secure boards are readily available and cheap, how come I've never seen one for sale?

The 5k just looks DUMB. It looks like some kind of NexTEL phone on some kind of cheap drugs.
As much as I don't like the 3K, I'd take it anyday over the 5K.
And, as r0f says, easier to make it do what you want.

They're quite popular in the for-sale forum here, and I've seen them on Ebay from time to time.

I have never seen one on eBay, granted, I've only been looking for the last month or so since I purchased a 3k. Even looking in the 'sold' auctions didn't turn up any.
As far as the for-sale forum goes, haven't seen any listed recently either. I see a lot of the ones for the Astro Saber/Spectra, but never for the 3k.
I may be wrong, but nothing has ever jumped out at me saying 'here I am, a XTS 3000 encryption board'.
I figured they were like the HLN6000's. I've been trying to find one of those for over a year - everytime I missed the auction or was too late responding to the post. I finally found one earlier this week (Thanks Rof!).

Ok, I stand corrected - problem is I keep forgetting where that list is of all the secure modules is so I can't cross reference. Unless these are multi-key (?), they wouldn't work for me anyway - I need DES-XL.
BTW - I know it's a little OT, but anybody know what the DES-XL module for the MCS-2000 is?

<===== Wow, 100 posts! I hope at least some of them were worth while.
Thanks rOf! At least now I know what I'm looking for.
