xtl 5000
some guy emailed me saying he has a motorola xtl 5000? he wants $1,100 new in the box... but he said it only goes up to 470? any way to make it go to 490? i never heard of this radio and is it a good price?
The XTL5000 is going to be the replacement for the Astro Spectra. I know the 700/800 dual band radio is out, I do not know if the UHF and VHF versions have been released yet.
As the radio's are so new, I don't think anyone has been able to play with the freq band settings yet.
The radio line does exist, but I can't tell you if he actually has one.

Lowband radio. The original and non-complicated wide area interoperable communications system

It's likely a scam. I had a guy try to sell me a nice spectrum analyzer for $400. He sent a nice email that had all kinds of links to an escrow site. From what I could determine it was one of the fake escrow services that take your money and run. It also looked like the guy had hijacked a good ebay account and was using it commit fraud.
Stay away from t the XTL! It's too good to be true.

I am sure that you can get the siren amp for it, which would then interface with the radio.
It would look like the box under the control head:
