Just curious if an Motorola MT1000 on the 30-36MHz bandsplit can be programmed on 29.600MHz and operate reasonably well. Anyone have any experience with this?

Yes, 400kc away from the lower end of the band is no problem. Radio will work fine. But: don`t forget to retune it!!
