ASTRO: Converting from Trunked to Conventional

In looking at the Motorola aftermarket FLASHport kits, it is certainly possible to convert a Conventional ASTRO P or M radio to Trunked. But, there is NO option to convert an ASTRO P or M Trunked to Conventional. Is it because Trunked radio firmware also gives you complete Conventional capabilities, such as is the case with Trunked scanners?

I was just wondering because there have been some recent sales on eBay of dirt cheap ASTRO radios that have H38 Trunked software, and I was curious as to their programmability for use on Conventional Only Systems.

Thanks!

You have correctly surmised that each enhanced flashcode contains the features of lower level flashcodes. i.e. conventional flashcode H35 features are all contained in Smartnet flashcode H37 and both of those feature sets are contained in the H38 Smartzone flash.

Darn, sure wish I had known this before the eBay guy just let go of two like-new UHF XTS3000s (with IMBE!) for $450 a piece!

Thanks, xmo (I think---argh!),
