Being paid to show up at work right now (but trying not to work), this came out of the blue (yup, its slow here)..
If you have an Astro Spectra....with a VRS..and your dept is IMBE, does the VRS rebroadcast the digital signal, or is it translated to analog? Is the user required to have an IMBE portable or would a HT220 work?

From what I understand, the Astro Spectra has an 800mV-pp analog output for VRS purposes, regardless of whether the received signal is analog or IMBE. So, the user could use any old radio.

i think it's now called the VRS 750 or something...
it looks like an MCS 2000 mobile with no control head... and has JEDI board parts in it...
does NOT support any digital signalling what-so-ever...
it's all 100% analog.

Yes, it's the best point for a tie in, as far as my poking around has shown. You will have to double-vocode since it's an analog signal. I haven't actually tested it to see how it would sound. I'm sure it will work, the question is how well? I would expect minor voice degradation, based on XMO's post on double-vocoding within a Centracom system.
