Hi There,

I was wondering if there is anyone who can help me out a little here.

I have a couple of MCS2000 flashport UHF mobiles. One is a single line display rotary channel change and the other a full keypad 2 line, version.

I have been trying to get the MPL to work on either radio and have failed on all attempts. I have enabled MPL in the personalities, I have made an MPL list and associated a button, but pressing it wont allow me into any sub menu for MPL at all.

Can any one help?, I have tried associating MPL to the mic button set and other buttons on the control head but no MPL options appear.

Am I missing some setting some where, surley this option is not a flash option, its quite a basic thing isnt it?

Heeeeelp !!

Thanks in advance Tom.

Hi Tom,
Just a quick question as your doing a conventional personality and you look at the bottom of the screen F9 (more options) under the options page do you have User-Selectable PL enabled?
This should be the last option on the left of the screen.

Hi There,

Yes I have that selected. To be honest I wonder if its connected to the same reason I cannot get the radios to scan. I have enabled a scan list but cant get the radio to scan any list.

I am beginning to wonder if the MCS2000 has to be flashed with scan and MPL. Its amazed me as I thought these were basic requirements and these are top of the range radios, but obviously not !!

I suppose I still could be overlooking some issue but its looking pretty negative at the moment.

Thanks for all the help, Uncle Tom

They definitely don't need a flash for scanning, and I don't believe they need one for MPL either, since the RSS gives you the option. BUT, I do believe the MCS2000 would only do MPL above a certain firmware version. What version do you have in the radios right now? Hit the center bottom button five times after the power-up self test to see this info (in the Model I, at least). What year are the radios?

Thanks Todd,

Just to keep you updated, I have sorted the scan, it was my oversight, so slapped wrists there. Kept me going for a while.

The MPL however must be as you suggest as I cannot get this to work at all. It will allow me to make a MPL list and associate names to each selection but there is no option MPL in the function menu listing. Conclusion not flashed to do MPL.

Thanks for you input and I now consider this little task put to bed, gawd its cost an hour or two over christmas I can tell you.

Thanks again and happy new year,

Regards Uncle Tom.

Do you have a mike plugged in? I know it sounds simple, but if the radio is off hook, it will not scan and PL is defeated.
